Article/Chapter Title: Molecular imaging of Merkel cell carcinoma
Abstract: Merkel cell carcinoma is an aggressive skin cancer that can benefit from advances in the field of molecular imaging. Currently, 2-deoxy-2-(18F)fluoro-d-glucose positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) dominates molecular imaging in oncology. The authors discuss PET/CT and a few other limited options in molecular imaging in this short chapter. The role of anatomical modalities including CT and magnetic resonance imaging will be covered in relevant chapters. © 2016 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
